Can I meta refresh to a new browser window?

Hi

Is there anyway to get a meta refresh to do so in an new browser window?

e.g. This code forwards this user after 8 seconds...
<meta http-equiv=refresh
content=8;url=h ttp://www.auction-air.com/index.html>

Is it possible to do so but in a new window, ideally one without focus
- i.e. a "pop under" but only do so after a number of seconds...

Or do we have to use javascript to do so?

P.S. BTW, what's the difference between alt.www.webmaster and
comp.infosystem s.www.authoring.html, anyone?

What's the difference between
- crossposting without Followup-To
- crossposting with Followup-To
- multiposting?

See http://www.cs.tut.fi/~jkorpela/usenet/xpost.html for explanation.

no

it might in your browser, but thankfully mine is completely immune to such
trickery.

your victim must have client script enabled as well as disabling all
pop-stoppers.

one is for, by and about webmastering issues, the other is a forum for the
discussion HTML as it relates to authoring for the www. I'll leave it to
the reader to research which is which.

Welcome to Caves of HTML!

You are in a dark cave scattered about with fragments of HTML and
graphics. You think you saw a domain name go scuttling along the wall
where the light from the entrance just reaches. It's cold.

? Make pop-under

You can't do that now.

? Look

You see a bit of javascript on the floor of the cave, shivering in fear
while a meta refresh crawls over your shoe.

? Get meta refresh

You pick up the meta refresh. It feels slimy and somehow disconcerting.

? Make pop-under with meta refresh

You can't do that.

? Get Javascript

It squirms in your hands, trying to get free. You can tell it definitely
doesn't like you.

? Make pop-under with javascript

And item you are carrying prevents you from making a pop-under.

? I

You are carrying:
Meta refresh
Javascript
Common Sense

? Drop Common Sense

You now have no Common Sense

? Make pop-under with javascript

You make a pop-under! Unfortunately, you're just as in the dark as before.

Too long-winded. I am dyslexic.

Are you saying I *should* use "Followup-To:" if I cross-post.
