Display div issue

1 New Member
Hi Guys

Im having a problem with displaying a div on top of other divs in firefox. I'm displaying the div(div_1) from within a td and when the div_1 goes over the top of another div(div_2), div_1 Im trying to display will actually go under the div_2 when it should go over the top of it. Works fine in safari and IE7.

e.g. code

<div>
<table>
<tr>
<td>
<div style="display: block; position: absolute;">show this div</div>
</td>
</tr>
</table>
</div>
<div>
This div will be displayed over the top of the div I'm trying to show
</div>

any ideas on how I can stop div_1 from showing underneath div_2?

I don't understand how you can tell. The text overlaps in both because the div is positioned absolutely. This removes the div from the normal flow. If you give the table a border, you will see that your divs are not even inside the table anymore.

We have an application that outputs several different graphs from data downloaded from our AS400. The application has worked without (this) issue for several months now, but just recently, the workstation it is normally run from has been upgraded to WinXP from WinNT 5.0. The issue is that the graphs will either display the data within the recordsource (a query), OR it will display the "temp" data in the chart's datasheet (from initial...

I was wondering if anyone can point me to some articles or practices they use for dealing with errors in their applications; particularly in an n-tier design. I am trying to find one way to conveniently handle both soft and hard errors, primarily for display to the end user. One method I have considered is rethrowing exceptions. With this approach, I would throw a plain old ApplicationException, with the Message property as the polite...

I try to understand what could be the source of a problem with displaying and hiding rows of tables using display:block/none. I've read selfhtml but could not find any hint about that. Any pointers why that can happen, or how I should take care of that type of problem/effect are highly appreciated. The problem... A couple times the hiding/displaying works, but _occasionally_ the entries are hidden but _blank lines appear_, instead.

IE6 only displays certain text on my site if you mouse over it (!). I reduced the HTML down to this code below which still shows this effect/bug. My temporary solution was to take out all the comments from my HTML. I reproduced this effect on two computers which use IE6. Why will IE6 not show the first line of text below when the page loads? To see this effect for yourself, view this page online at:

My form is not based on query, but rather two separate tables (one primary, one sub). That code is working properly. How do I get that to translate to my report? I use VBA code because I use formats other than BMP for the pictures. Would basing the form on the qury that the report is based on solve the issue without...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
