windows or popups), an effect seen all over the web is to render the
background content a translucent shade of dark gray. but something i

the content area "behind" the modal is not only gray, but uniformly
blurred. like this:

Hi, I have a javascript, calendar.js which i use to enable my client to select the date. This calendar pops up on the click of a gif image. But the problem is that this poped up window is not modal in nature(i do not want the user to go the parent page unless he selects some date in the calendar popup). In the javascript calendar.js he has used window.open() function to pop up the window. i just want to know whether we have any...

Hi, I'm opening an ASP.NET page using the JavaScript window.showModalDialog method. This page has a submission button on it which, when clicked, opens a new window, which is pretty much as expected. However, I want it to keep the submission within the modal dialog. Looking round the net, it seems that this is not an uncommon problem and that people are using an iframe to solve it. Fair enough - that's not difficult. However, I'm...

I am using Andy Smiths Dialog windows, which work really well. My only problem is I am trying to make the Dialogs Modal. Someone mentioned putting <base target="_self"> into the head section of the modal window to make it work. I tried putting it both pages just to see if it would work and it doesn't seem to work. Does anyone know how to make these modal?

Hi! I'm working on a web application in Asp.net and what I would like to have is a cross borwser modal dialog which accepts user's input. I would like to catch what the user clicked on the dialog. To be more specific I want to have a confirmation dialog that is shown when a user clicks on a Delete button (which deletes some values from database). If Yes is pressed the delete action is processed otherwise modal dialog is closed.

Hi All, I would think this would be a fairly common thing, but I'm having a bit of trouble finding what I want on google/etc... In an ASP.NET 2.0, C# webform, I would like to have a textbox and button. In the textbox, you would type a couple of characters (i.e. "Amer"), then click the button (labeled "Browse..."). It would open a modal browser dialog, show a radio-buttoned list of

Hi all... I am bulding an application and wish to use custom Modal dialog windows. According to a couple of recent articles I have seen, the newer Mozilla browsers (actually I think they said Netscape) supported syntax like : window.open(URL ,"diagwin","modal=1, width=30"); For IE I use : window.showModalDialog

In the continuation of the discussion at "Making Site Opaque -- This Strategy Feasible?" and my comment at http://groups.google.com/group/comp.lang.javascript/msg/b515a4408680e8e2 I have realized that despite suggestions to use DHTML-based modal dialogs are very common? there is not a single fully functional reliable copyright-free cross-browser alternative to say MsgBox (VBScript) or showModalDialog (IE). This way such suggestions up to...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
