IE7 and CSS Flyouts

3 New Member

First time posting here so I hope I give enough info.

I'm just in the process of building a new site from a template supplied to us by a designer.

Everything was going great until I updated to IE7 and realized that on all of our flyout menus, for some reason it puts each word on a new line. Everything else seems to be working fine, just this little oddity.

I'm not overly experienced with css, and the designer is away on holidays, so I thought I would as for some help.

The issue in question can be seen at http://testing.shearco mfort.com/seatcovers/company.asp by mousing over Specials or Accessories in the menu on the left.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure, but it does work fine in firefox, also you might want to change the cursor from an IBeam when it hovers over a link, so people know if it is one or not

I think it must be an IE bug. Everything seems fine (to me) in firefox and opera. . .

I'm still learning CSS myself, so can't offer much help. But in the articles section for HTML/CSS, they have an article called Useful Links. Go to that and they have two links that bring you to a page that talks about IE bugs and how to fix them.

You might find the fix there, but if not, well someone more knowledgeable here might be of better help!

Does slightly widening the menu or its container solve the problem? IE tends to add margin/padding where there is none.

Try fixing these in your XHTML, and in your CSS "font-weight" doesn't have a value "none" here's a few alternatives.

Hope it helps, Death

Well, I've fixed all the stuff that death pointed out, as well as tried widening the fields and it still wants to put each word on it's own line.

Any other ideas? Or is this a case of me needing to out and find some new flyout code and learn to use that and put it in?

If your 1984 Chevy didn't run like your 2007 Porsche, would you replace the Porsche? If your markup if working in modern browsers then the problem isn't your markup and find other markup will only contain the same hacks you'll need to make IE work.

I'm going to bed now so I'll look again sometime tomorrow (if I can muster up the energy to turn my Windows box on).

Hi, there, I'm trying to do something, and part of the problem is that I don't know how to describe the effect. One block will have a list of links stacked over one another and separated by p tags. In order to reduce my development time, I would like to acquire a suite of tools for ASP.Net development that provide grid, treeview, menus, and other similar web controls.
