<div style="display: hidden"> not working in IE

4 New Member
I'm building a new site and using the Lightbox2 photo gallery(http://www.huddletogether.com/projects/lightbox2/). I have several images...each open up their own gallery. I was having a problem with my cells increasing in height when applying the galleries to the image source. A forum member from Lightbox suggested using <div style="display: hidden">.....wh ich works well in Firefox 2 and Netscape 8, but not in IE6(not sure about IE7). I know many people who still use IE6 so its preferred that IE6 is able to properly load the webpage. My layout doesn't shift in Dreamweaver but when viewed on the web using IE6, the cell still shifts. The following is a portion of my source code:

<tr>
<td width="167" height="32" valign="top">
<a href="images/pic1.jpg" rel="lightbox[imageset]"><img src="images/designer.gif" width="167" height="32" border="0"></a>
<div style="display: hidden">
<a href="images/pic2.jpg" rel="lightbox[imageset]"></a>
<a href="images/pic3.jpg" rel="lightbox[imageset]"></a>
</div>
</td>
</tr>

The following link is the webpage I'm working on. Notice in IE the space under the name "Candace Ang":

http://marybrennanco.com/designer_test.html

From my research online, IE doesn't seem to do well with DIVs. Haven't been able to find a fix for my problem. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated...t his appears to be the last hurdle.

Thank You ahead of time.

hidden is not a value you can asign to display, what you would want to use is:
Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. /*hides the element(s)*/
  2. display: none;
  3. /*shows the elements(s)*/
  4. display: block;
  5.
good luck

Alternatively if you want to hide an element, but leave a space as if it was still here you can use
Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. element { visibility: hidden; }

I have a large form that is generated dynamically in a jsp using xml / xslt. So, to break up this form into several "tabbed" sections, I break up the form using <div> tags. Each <div style="display:none"> can be displayed by setting the style attribute to "display:", or hidden with "display:none". This gives the illusion that the person...

I'm trying to handle the onChange event in an <input type="file"> element. In IE, there's no problem: the event fires when a file in the "open" box is doubleclicked, or the "Open" button in the box is clicked, or "Enter" is hit in the attached text box. I can get the value of the element. But in Netscape 7, onChange doesn't fire until focus...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For...
