Reaction delays in IE (V6) but not in NS (V8)

I am running a fairly large html file (larger than recommended). It
runs OK in NS but in IE I am getting a significant delay in in reaction
time. Please see a demo of the problem at:

http://www.capitalcityrealty.ca/test.html

The test file is about 2mg (extremely large for in order to clearly
demonstrate the issue). The delay I am experiencing is close to 20
seconds on IE. As mentioned, there is NO delay with NS. By delay I
mean that after clicking on an internal link, I have to wait before I
am able to click on another link, or before I can use the scroll bar.

I would like to know why I am getting the delay in IE but not in NS,
and if there is anything that can be done to "fix" the delay in IE.

Your problem intrigued me so I went ahead and loaded the 2mg html file on
dial-up. Interestingly, I got no delay with IE - none. (This is IE XP
SP2.) I then tried it in FF and also got no delay.

Maybe there's something about your own instance of IE that's causing the
problem.

Thank you for your comments.

Based on your comments I checked the newsgroups for issues causing IE
to run slow. The solution that I discoverd worked. I went into
Tools/Internet options/Advanced and unchecked the item: "enable
third-party browser extensions" and then rebooted.

The question that comes to mind is: Is this item automatically checked
upon installation of IE? If it is, then the average user may run into
slownesson with certain sites and not know that there is a simple
solution.

It is enabled in mine, so maybe you have an extension installed that's
causing the problem? Also, I wonder if such extensions can be "invisibly"
installed.

It probably is and that probably can happen. Microsoft isn't known for
always implimenting the best approach to things. Besides, once you make
your first billion, you don't care...

2 milligrams? (mg = milligram). Very lightweight file.

Hello all A client of ours is using IBM Unidata (U2 product line) V6 and now wants to migrate away to something more dynamic. When I say dynamic I mean industry recognized and able to support a development environment that is specifically .NET and C# orientated. The current choices that they are looking at are very simple: SQL and SQL.
