On July 27-28, 2022, the 24th China Expressway Informatization Conference and Technology Products Expo was held in Changsha, Hunan Province. With the theme of "Digitalization, Networking, Wisdom", the conference brought together the latest achievements of more than 400 domestic and foreign manufacturers in the field of highway informatization, showing the unlimited prospects of future highway informatization.
AntDB database was invited to participate in the conference and delivered a speech on "AntDB Database Helps Innovative Application of Intelligent Expressway".

Through the integration with cloud computing, big data and the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence and other new generation of Internet technology, Intelligent highway is to achieve a comprehensive and thorough, real-time and accurate perception of the highway, transfer the perceived data through a stable, large bandwidth highway communication network, also coordinate with sharing, powerful and efficient unified intelligent management platform, so that business management, emergency response, toll management can be visualized, mobile, intelligent, accurate.
As a key element, "data" is the blood cell that supplies oxygen to the "brain" of the intelligent highway, and runs through the digitalization and intelligent transformation, so the management ability of "data" or information becomes the key ability of intelligent expressway.
Database is the circulatory system that supports the effective flow of "data" - database and data management platform as the carrier of data, is not only the connector and bridge of the highway brain, transmission network layer and basic information layer, but also one of the decisive factors of highway digitalization.

Zhang Hua, as a veteran of the domestic database industry and the earliest R&D leader of AntDB database who has been working in the database and operator industry for nearly two decades, said that the key features of future data management platform must be “distributed+scenario+independent”. The wide promotion and application of domestic database is not only the requirement for cost cut and efficiency increase and enhancing the security of supply chain, but also for the future business development.

Case of AntDB helping innovate intelligent expressway
In accordance with the State Council's plan to abolish provincial boundary toll stations, a provincial highway in southwest China carries out network toll management according to the principle of "unified standard, network operation, differentiated management and aggregated clearing", at the same time, actively responds to the national policy for information innovation industry and first completed the independent and controllable update and transformation of expressway clearing and settlement system based on AntDB.
The expressway clearing and settlement system is a comprehensive system for all the operating companies, competent units, various participants, the public, etc. It can be interfaced with roadside sensing equipment through the network to realize the whole business life cycle management of clearing and settlement from data collection, cleaning, conversion, verification, clearing and settlement, reconciliation, fund transfer, etc.
Zhang Hua introduced that the clearing and settlement project needs to solve the problems encountered by a province of southwest China in expressway clearing and settlement concerning the degree of business scenario coverage, high feasibility of technical architecture, independent and controllable technology, and guaranteed project delivery time, etc. under the condition of fully considering the cost performance of budget usage.
The highway clearing and settlement system of a province in southwest China adopted AntDB to bear the real-time incoming, querying and outgoing data of highway checkpoints in the province. As the original IOE architecture was replaced, it processes tens of millions of gantry flow and millions of lanes flow daily, and the active data volume is nearly one hundred terabytes.
Since its launch, the clearing and settlement system has been running smoothly and has achieved good economic and social benefits: the system involves multiple source systems such as provincial clearing and settlement system, lane tolling system, ETC gantry tolling system, issuance system, customer service and issuance system, etc. With AntDB‘s compatibility with Oracle , each application is smoothly migrated. The multi-node distributed deployment architecture, compared with the original four-node RAC, shows the advantage that the performance is improved by 15% and the cost is saved by 80%, with 600TB of platform design capacity.

Zhang Hua said that the intelligent expressway will evolve to the "convergence" of everything, and AntDB's hyper-converged database capability will help the intelligent expressway continue to evolve in the future.
At the end of the speech, Zhang Hua shared the application cases of AntDB in high performance transaction scenario, complex transaction scenario, massive storage scenario, analytical scenario, big data analysis scenario and other business scenarios in other industries.
