CODE39 barcode font and Chinese characters - question

4
Hi All,

The software I'm working on uses the CODE39 barcode font to converts regular strings into the barcode labels. However we're now in the process of internalization and we need to add support for double byte characters for example Chinese.

Everything is encoded in UTF8 but for some reason when try to convert a string that holds both Latin and Chinese characters only Latin gets converted to barcode lines and the Chinese characters popup up in the middle without any change.

Does anybody know a solution to that?

Thanks,
goe

Hi ,

Is there a barcode font that can be used for the above purpose ?

Am a Technology Specialist working in an MNC . We have an urgent requirement to produce BARCODE for non-latin characters ( chinese, japanese etc ) . Hence am looking for a universal barcode font that will fit this bill. Came across Code 93i font. Is this the best one ??

Can you please guide as to where i can find a trail version of this font or any other that yo uare aware of ? . We are ready to purchase this font once the testing goes success. Thanks a lot for your time and all the very best and a fantastic New Year to you .

You have posted a general question in the Perl forum without asking a question regarding Perl. In reading your post, I don't believe that Perl is any part of the issue and for that reason, I am moving this thread to the Miscellaneous forum.

Next time, please choose a forum more appropriate to the subject of your thread.

Regards,

Jeff

Code39 barcodes have a maximum 2^7 -1 possible codes. Since the combined Chinese and Latin alphabets are considerably larger than that, you need to pick another barcode symbology.
