Visual Basic Compile error

For about the past month, whever I start Excel of try to open an Excel file, I get a Visual Basic popup window: Compile Error: Can't find project or Library. I have no idea why I'm getting this message of how to prevent the 7 or so popup windows. After I close each window, I get a message saying that "debugger will stop".

How can I prevent this error in the first place? I have Windows XP, Office 2003.

Thanks in advance!

I would guess, from the little information here, that something is incorrectly set up on your PC.
Have you tried googling the exact error message?
Have you tried opening Excel without opening any file?

I did try Google and that lead me to this forum.

I get the same thing just starting Excel without opening any file. By the way, after I close the 6 or 7 visual basic windows that opened, I can open any Excel file as normal.

I would be happy to post more info, but I don't know what else to write. I've never even used Visual Basic before. I'm not trying anything fancy - I just want to use Excel without the Visual Basic compile error each time.

Thanks!

OK, so the full and entire error message, repeated several times exactly the same, is :
Compile Error: Can't find project or Library
That's very little to go on I'm afraid (not untypical I'm sorry to say).
As far as other information is concerned, there may well be none. This doesn't mean it's going to be any easier to fix though. In an information vacuum, regardless of whose fault it may be, there's just so little we can do to help.
All I can suggest is to re-install your Excel (or Office). This may (hopefully) have some beneficial effect.
Unfortunately, there are so many factors that could be involved.
