Checking condition

Hi,

I have a problem in checking for a condition.I have a dropdownlist containing items and on selection of items in dropdownlist it is inserted into listbox.Now I have to check for a condition such that items in dropdownlist doesn't exist in listbox.This condition should be checked before inserting into listbox and not more thatn 5 items should be inserted into listbox.Though it is simple one I got stuck up.plz help me in resolving this
