Adding background image in Website Tonight

sketchgrrl
I'm using IE to build a GoDaddy.com Website Tonight site.
I want to add a background image (probably a repeating one to make sure it covers all the empty spaces behind the images on the page already).

I found some CSS and also HTML code online but when I tried those, they didn't work. Into those codes, I had inserted the name of the jpg image I had uploaded into my site's Website Tonight library (the image I want to use as the page's background).

I tried pasting the code in the header box at the top of my site (pasting it above the code for the image I have there) and when that didn't work, I tried pasting it in the box below the header box, in the one for the subtitle of the site. In that case, I tried pasting it either above or below the image HTML, but all that happened (in all of the above cases) is that the code itself showed when I previewed it.

One more detail--I need a way to add a background image that won't cover over any images or text that I have on the page or plan to add to it.

I hope someone here can help me!

Thanks very much,
Judy
