Colon+CloseParen:) Colon+OpenParen:( Colon+o:o Colon+p:p
You are only allowed four!
colon+D:D
The only letters that go with the colon are p and D. The rest do nothing.
There are no other colon+special character combinations that give smilies.
Semi+CloseParen;)
I lost the smilies at the bottom :(
Somebody esle can figure out cool and mad

It would have showed you when you hit "reply". It's just the word "confused" bracketed by colons.

I started it here as a follow up to https://bytes.com/showthread.php?t=566077 because smilies worked on this board, but they stopped 21 Mar in the evening a couple of hours before Killer noticed. :detective:

This thread was in the VB forum, which has smilies turned on, but appears to have moved back to the Misc. Discussions forum which (to my great disgust) does not.
This thread was obviously placed deliberately in the VB forum so that the smilies could be showcased. But someone has missed (or disregarded) this intent, decided it wasn't VB-related, and moved it. I'm a Moderator for the VB forum, but I can't suck in a thread from elsewhere.
Who moderates the Misc forum? Perhaps we can get them to push it back. This could become “a game of pass the parcel in an I...” uh... no. That’s an old Aussie expression which might offend some important people at TSDN. Let’s just call it a “hot potato”.
I never noticed that we were moved. I'll just repost a summary in VB.
I've checked the log. Turns out KUB moved it. Non-Technical posts are not allowed in the technical forums. If you've reposted there I would suggest making it clear in the thread that it is temporary only and just to test out smilies as they are not available in the community forums.
No guarantee it won't get moved again though - LOL.

Moved? It doesn't appear to exist at all.

I can't trace who deleted it. However I would suggest you test out the smilies using the preview post rather than actually posting them. Then you can post the results here.

I think I found the thread here. It looks as though the link is wrong, because it seems to indicate we have about 2.45 million threads, when it appears that the true number is more like 650,000.
That's if the thread numbers are just allocated sequentially, as I assumed.

It would make things much simpler if someone could simply have a look (wherever) and tell us what ones are defined.
Nudge nudge, semicolon-right-bracket semicolon-right-bracket...

Haven't found the smilie list yet but if you want you can play around with these and see how many actually work. http://www.thescripts.com/forum/misc.php?do=bbcode
OK, try these
