So what would YOU call it?

address verification, Street address lookup...etc.
None of these seem to capture my current need which is:

I have a database of street addresses within a school district and need a script whereby parents can input their address to see if they are in the district.

Sounds simple enough. Apparently I'm not using the correct terminology for what I'm seeking...and your help at better describing what I'm looking for is VERY much appreciated.

John it depends on whether you are using a form or a website.

For a form I would suggest searching for keywords {Search Form Lookup}. The address part won't be relevant to the functionality of the answer. Also include the type of database in the search as the answer will vary greatly.

For a website I would suggest searching for keywords {Search database Lookup} and include the name of the scripting language you are using.

Actually, the "address part" may be relevant. There is quite a bit of software out there which is specific to searching/verifying/matching names, addresses, and other specific pieces of info. Some are more flexible than others, and may be more widely applicable, but others are dedicated to doing one job. So you may need to be quite specific in a search to find them.
