New name for a Software Company

Vasuki Masilamani
Hi,
My friend is running a Sofware company in small scale. Currently the name of the company is Sakthi Technologies. Now he wants to change the name of the company. It needs to be bit professional and mordern.

Can any one please suggest some names for this.

Thanks,
Vasuki

Maybe you can share with is what Shakti does? What kind of software do you develop? That will give us some direction for proposing a better name.

I agree that it's not who you are, it's what you do. He could go with the name he has without any problems. No matter what you name the company it's how you tell you message that make a name work.

Consider RCA Victor or General Motors or Westinghouse, these names do not say a word about what they do, but you know a great deal about them from the messages they broadcast. Perhaps a tag line "Software Development Associates" would help to tell a story along with the name.

How about "Bit Recycler" or "Bit Box" or "Dig-it" (like digit but said like "dig it") or "Dig-IT" if you are into the IT stuff. I got a million of em.

Or you can checkout this link for all your company presence needs.

Hi All,

Finally after a deep discussion we came to a conclusion to keep as "Opus Solutions". Opus means creativity.

Thank you all for your suggestions.

Thanks,
Vasuki

If you were to come up with a name for a company that is to produce the most dominant suite of image manipulation software on the planet would you start with Adobe?

Good name, but I just wanted to clarify that "opus" does not mean "creativity" literally. It means "a work," literally, as in "work of art." Hence, an artist's greatest accomplishment is his/her "magnum opus," or "great work."

Probably something more along the lines of "Uber Photo Manipulator 9Billion" that sounds a bit better than Adobe.

I didn't have the guts earlier to say (because I wasn't sure) that I don't think Opus really means creative/creativity that well anyway......

BUT, if you like the creative theme, try words like:
demiurgic, unprecedented, adroit, poetic, hip, resourceful, avante-garde, visionary,
or simply creative -> "creative processes", "adroit androids".....I'm sure others can use these better

How about "IS" for Ingenius Solutions its easy to refer to because it can be pronounced as a two letter word, and you should pick it because it's an idea straight from death.( me [ if I could cuddle my name I so would ])

Nah, I'd propose "TINABA" which stands for:

"This Is Not Another Bloody Acronym".

kind regards,

Jos ( but don't tell 'em ;-)

Oh come on, you can do better than that:

"JACANAWIDITI" (= "JosAH Created A New Acronym Which Is Denying Its True Identity")

How about something like "SCYS" (= "SCYS Creates You Software", a recursive Acronym)?
