.xls to .csv file

Hi All,

Can any one help me out for the following...

I opened a new blank xls file and entered the number 0048 in the cell and saved it as .csv file, and when i opened the .csv file the no. 0048 has been stored as 48 with no zeros infront. How can i store the no. as 0048 in .csv file?

This works if you format the cell as text instead of a number.

Thank you for the reply. its working now...but now another issue is that if i close the file and open it again, i'm facing the same old problem.

After you set the Format of the cell, save the workbook. Then Save As or Export or whatever you are doing.

if you want to format a number , say 123 to be 000123.
Go to Format Cells->Number->Custom and type in 000000. For 00123, type in 00000 and likewise. For 0048, type in 0000

Good one, GD. It's been a long time since I've had to edit an Excel sheet. I had forgotten about that one.
