No

I think I better repeat that

NO

However it should be noted that pylisopically speaking it would be impossible to tell the difference between a box that could think and a box contained the answer to all questions and just regurgitated them (and in the modern age of SQL data bases this would require much less storage (only infinate instead of infinate) because many question would have the same answer so you could set up a many to 1 relationship.

P.S. Also you haven't defined think

P.P.S. Also you have consider the initial question "can I think?"

P.P.P.S. Mary repeat after me "I am not a machine, I am a human being" (I am begining to worry about you I must look up the number of a good doctor in Ireland).

It's all Adrians fault. I think he's brainwashed me.

"P.P.S. Also you have consider the initial question "can I think?"". I will not repond to that. That question is only relevant to Mary (and you maybe)

In certain contexts computers can be considered to be thinking. (Mary there is a very good Chinese room example). In some situations it is impossible to distinguish between human and computer output.

Irish doctors would probably be too drunk to notice anything wrong with her

You can't take the mick out of a mick better than micks can take the mick out of themselves.

Actually I know Mick and I know that he wouldn't want to take himself out of himself, he's quite happy where he is (which is in the pub with the odd 16 pints of larger).

Larger than what?
(NO I won't get involved in this thread - it's too crazed even for me!)
And don't do a KUB on me again and edit your post leaving mine there looking stupid!

I think Banfa was going for lager, a type of German alcohol.

I think you're absolutely right Ganon. We both live in England and lager is drunk fairly heavily over here.
I was just making a pun about his spelling mistake which I don't think amused greatly :D.

I appreciate that Ganon - unfortunately, most people seem to feel that appreciating my level of humour is a general indication of sanity (or lack thereof) - so I wouldn't advise admitting that ,).

No your alright, I smiled. After all my spelling is a tro shoes. Anyway if I could spell I wouldn't have become a programmer.

A direct quote from one of my performance reviews 4-5 years ago

His English gets better with each new version of spelling checker

I maintain that it is not my fault, my 1st language is C

Ben,

I liked your reply, thanks. But don't think you're alone in not appreciating my puns. I'm surrounded by people who regard it as something a few stories lower then Benny Hill ever reached. I just have to carry on regardless - stopping is not an option :D.
