E-mail storage ideas

Anyone have any suggestions on what I can do about e-mail storage? Our users refuse to manage their e-mails and their boxes are huge. I have got them to use archives now but the archives are stored on my file share and now that is getting too full. Any ideas?

A perennial problem.

Use auto-archive.
Archive the archives every year or so depending on traffic volumes.
Not an easy problem to find a good solution for.

We are using auto archive and that presents another problem, that is killing my backups and increasing the size of my file server. Problem is that it is a small company and limited resources.
