[CS3] Rip audio to stage from line in input?

Hi guys,

I'm not even sure if this is possible so I don't expect much, but any advice at all would be helpful;

What I'm aiming to do is have a Flash app that, while it is running, can rip a sample (say 20 secs) of the audio track that is currently playing on an external device like an iPod or mp3 player by plugging them into an audio jack. I then want to place the sample on the stage dynamically.

As I said, any help at all would be much appreciated, and if this isn't even possible then a heads up would be great so I can move on to something else.

Thanks in advance.
