ActionScripts for newbies!!

1
I'm really glad I found this forum.. I really am.. I've been searching millions of sites, just to learn simple actions, and so far I've been living a nightmare!!
They all say "copy this: OnBlah; blah blah:} Windowbluh bluh {"
?????????????
I'm not so technical, and that way does me no good.. So I seek help from you guys.. How do I use the actionscript? Currently, I'm working on a movie, and I'm trying to make a menu (you know, where Play Movie, Scene Selection and Exit are found..) So I need actions to close the window (when you click Exit) and picking scenes (like part I, part II and such) And last but not least a command to make the timeline skip scene one and go to scene 2 (The beginning of the movie)
I really hope to find something like click fl.controls>base button>methods...etc.
Not just codes..

Thank y'all SO VER MUCH in advance ^^
