Actionscript buttons on flash movie won't work

I have got a Movie clip that i have made in FLASH MX, and when i attach a actionscript to the button the hit CTRL + ENTER so veiw the SWF file, the actionscripting does not work.

Is this becasue i have the movie clip on the same SCENE as were i want to the button to take me?

Does any one have any ideas as i am stuck and need help!!

i have treid to make another scene and set the actionscript up for that but it does not seem to work,
The ides of the button(movieclip) is that when you rollyour mosue over it the Name "Portfolio" would move to the side and then obv you would click it and would load up the oage along side that normal part, but this does seem to work!!
any ideas?

yeah nothing seems to work, lol
its ok al just have to make it look crap by making them not move at all lol!!
no one seems to know what to do lol?

have you tried scene(2).play (this probably isn't the right syntax) but something like that

or gotoframe(200); play();
