FLV files will not load sequentially, unless within flash player 8

1
A demo created by a person who has since left, runs fine on a local (Windows XP) system within flash player 8, but when we try to access it through the html version (index.html) on a local system or on our server, there is a breakdown when it tries to load .FLV files sequentially.
All the files share the same directory. There are no 'subfolders', all files are in the same root folder called group_quote.

Given that the sequential loading works fine within player 8, I've tried the following:
exporting the swfs with only the 'local' setting selected
exporting all the swfs with 'access network only' selected
There was no difference in the performance.

Basically, the anatomy of the demo is like this.

index.swf ("start demo")
chapter1.swf
chapter2.swf (loads automatically after chapter1.swf)
chapter3.flv (loads automatically after chapter2.swf)
**chapter4.flv (fails to load after chapter 3 ends, -no error) have to manually select a different chapter, before selecting 4
**chapter5.flv (same as above)
**chapter6.flv (same as above)
chapter7.swf (loads automatically when ch6 finishes)

flv_player.swf (This is used to set up the continuous loading of the flv files (chapter3.flv, chapter4.flv >> chapter6.flv)

navigator.swf (This is the navigation to select different chapters)

What could cause the flv files not to load after each other when they work fine locally within flash player 8?
Is this a specific to flash player 9?

Thank you for any assistance you can lend.

Please verify that I am understanding you correctly: The SWF works fine when you double click on it in explorer. It opens, loads FLVs and continues correctly. However when you load an HTML file located in the same directory, the same thing does not happen. Is this your problem, or have I lost something?
