What does ### mean in Excel?

I have finals next week and I am stuck on one question on my review sheet for excel. So once again I beg: Please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please someone help me!! What does ### mean in Excel and how do you fix it??? please,please,please help!!

The cell is too narrow to display the number.

Either make the cell wider or in some cases alter the number format (reduce decimal places).

Can you explain what you mean? Are you talking about the individual characters ("/" etc), or does Excel show the string "/ < >" somewhere, or what?

  • The "$" makes it an "absolute" reference. That means it won't change if you copy or move it to another location. If you want to follow this up further, please start a new discussion thread.

this problem is occured when u enter date in a cell and cell width is smaller then the date width.So u should first make the width of the cell greater then the enserted date
