How do you get rid of #### in Excel?

When I type in 8 AM, #### appears and in the function bar it appears as 8:00:00 AM. How can I make it stay to 8 AM? Please help!!!!

there are 3 ways:

1) make the column wider
2) in cell properties type the format 'u AM/PM'
3) type a single quoot (') before the text.

wait, option 1 is not what you want if you want to maintain '8 AM'.....
