How to fix Page Numbering Error (#Name?) in footer of reports in Access 2007 file?

Hello.

The issue is with an existing Access file (been used for over a year). It was working fine, then suddenly, many of the reports (8 of 11) started showing “#Name?” in page numbering field where there was never a problem before.

Syntax was checked and found to be correct. The fields were then deleted and inserted again. After reviewing print preview and confirming that page numbering was displayed properly, the file was saved. Upon exiting and reentering the file, however, all changes were lost again. SIDE NOTE: Newly created reports do not have this issue (i.e., changes were upheld after saving/exiting/reentering file).

The syntax has been triple checked and is fine. Page numbering was inserted using Controls>Page Numbers found on Design tab.

Any idea what may be causing this and how to resolve? This has our IT experts stumped!
