How long does a HADR take to switch from primary to Secondary?

We are looking at implementing HADR Solution to our OLTP databases and wanted to check how long does a HADR take to switch from primary to Secondary in real world?
I have been reading documentation that it is fast, but the actual time is not mentioned any where. Wanted to see if it is less than 5 minutes or longer than it?
Also, wanted to see what happens in case of a Crash to the primary? Will the secondary come up immediately or will it also go through the crash recovery?

HADR take less than a minute to switch over from primary to secondary. The best way to test is to configure one on you test environment. It is very simply to configure.

If you need to configure a HADR environment on VMWare for test purpose below link will help you.
