How Could I Tuning Performance of a Trigger with MultiCondition in DB2 ?

My company has so many traffic on his DB2 server,
so performance is a key factor here...
i developed a trigger which should only work for few rows of a very huge table but on that few cases it fetch from another table and as u know it's a time consuming action:

when (NROW.status = 1 ) and EXISTS(SELECT 1 FROM SchemaName.Table1 WHERE [condition])

as u can see the first condition is no time consuming and if it is false(for most cases) the second is not important, but I wonder that for all cases although the first is false the second clause also is tested by DB2!
and however it has no effect on functionality but reduces performance dramatically...

so the question is how can I eleminate this fetch time for cases that not satisfy the first condition ?

with thanks
