How to compile a C-based UDFs using GNU gcc or IBM xlc?

Hi there,

is it possible to compile a c-based (not C++!) function with the GNU gcc to make it usable as an UDF in db2?

I'm stuck with the following problem:

When I try to compile the function using the bldxlcudf-skript (with machine-specific variations), I get
Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. gcc: unrecognized option '-bE:name.exp'
(where name.exp = file with the entry-point/name of the function i'd like to use).

I've worked myself through every step of the example UDF creation (from the official documentation), but I'm not getting this Entry-Point Problem fixed.

So, is the xlc madatory or is there any hope I can get it done using the gcc?

regards
