SQL1336N and DB2 CONNECTIVITY PROBLEM. What am I doing wrong?

25
Hi all,

I am having a DB2 connectivity problem that I hope someone can help me resolve. I need this to test Replication and such other things. What am I doing wrong here? Any help that
I can get will be highly appreciated.

First, the error that I am getting when I try to connect to the remote host after performing NODE and database catalog is the following:

[IBM][CLI Driver] SQL1336N The remote host "WINSVR2008R2-2" was not found. SQLSTATE=08001. I have reviewed the associated explanation for the SQL1336N error message which in
essence states that the system cannot resolve the IP address of the remote host.

For further clarification, I have DB2 Express-C 9.7 installed on my Vista Home premium Laptop. I also have VMware Workstation 6.5.3 hosting Windows Server 2008 R2 as guest OS.
On this Windows Server 2008 R2 is installed a copy of DB2 Express-C 9.7. I desire connectivity to this DB2 copy from my Vista machine's DB2 Control Center. Below is what I have
configured for my local and remote DB2 environment.

Please take note of what I have for IP address from issuing IPCONFIG for both VISTA host and the VMware Windows Server 2008R2:

(1) From the Services file on both environment (Vista and Windows Server2008R2) I have:

SERVICE NAME PORT#

db2vistaj_DB2 55000/tcp #HomeLaptop-1 <---- Vista Home Premium - Local Machine
db2vista_DB2 50000/tcp #HomeLaptop-1

db2j_DB2T0 65000/tcp #Windows Server 2008 R2 TestBaseVM <---- VMware/Windows Server 2008 R2 (Remote). Cataloged locally
db2c_DB2T0 60000/tcp #Windows Server 2008 R2 TestBaseVM

db2j_DB2W0 55000/tcp #Windows Server 2008 R2 WorkBaseVM <---- Another VMware/Windows server 2008 R2. This is not currently cataloged on my local machine
db2c_DB2W0 50000/tcp #Windows Server 2008 R2 WorkBaseVM local machine (Remote)
