SQL2312 versus SQL0973

Hello,

Our database (AIX DB2 8.2.9) requires regular refresh of the statistics due to data variability issues. We run this with 'detailed' to ensure that we accurately reflect the non-uniform data distribution.

Previously, if our STAT_HEAP_SZ variable was too small, we would get an error like this:

RUNSTATS ON TABLE FOO.MODEL WITH DISTRIBUTION AND DETAILED INDEXES ALL
2007-03-21 15:03:18,692 INFO [default] SQL2312N Statistics heap size is too small to carry out the operation.
2007-03-21 15:03:18,692 INFO [default] Suggested heap size is "9846" pages.

Which was fine. We would up the STAT_HEAP_SZ to exceed the Suggested heap size and all would be well.

We are now getting the following error, which does not provide as much guidance:

RUNSTATS ON TABLE FOO.MODEL WITH DISTRIBUTION AND DETAILED INDEXES ALL
2007-12-18 13:32:09,140 INFO [DB2Statistics] SQL0973N Not enough storage is available in the "STAT_HEAP_SZ" heap to
2007-12-18 13:32:09,140 INFO [DB2Statistics] process the statement. SQLSTATE=57011

I would like to understand what this new error indicates (it seems to be referring to a DB2 global memory allocation)

Thanks,
Richard Seeton
