Can we have spaces as values in the columns of database ?
If so, are they equivalent to null values ?

Hi,

yes, a space (' ') is valid content for a char or varchar column. Just put a space into single quotes (') when inserting. You may use it in selects/queries as "... where mycolumn=' ' ".

No, NULL means there's nothing in this field, no space (which basically is text), no number, nothing. You may use it in selects/queries as "... where mycolumn is NULL' "(means contains no data at all).

Regards, Bernd
