Connecting to DB2 server from Client machine for Business Objects

P: 1
Hi Gurus,

My first post in this forum. If this is not relevant, please ignore.

I am trying to find what the softwares required to connect to DB2 UDB (Version 5) host server, from my PC. From the information I found, I need to install DB2 Client or DB2 Connect. Confusion here is which one I need?

Only DB2 UDB 9 client and DB2 UDB 8.2 Connect are available from IBM site, not lower versions. Do these higher versions comaptible with lower version host UDB 5?

Please can you share.

if you're connecting to DB2 on mainframe, then you'll need the "Connect" version which is not for free. If Connect V8 is supporting a connection to DB2 v5, well, I can't tell but I doubt it. (Quiet a long time since v5 and at least on LUW version they changed the protocol from v7 to v8.)
