how to connect to db2 database

P: 4
hello everybody

I am new to this forum and new to DB2 database also.

I have installed DB2 V8.1 on a server running on Red Hat Linux Version 4 OS. I have also installed WebSphere Application server V6 and WebSphere Portal Server V6 on another server with Red Hat Linux Version 4.

I would like to connect the DB2 database with the WAS/WPS.

I am totally new to this ie DB2, WAS/WPS and would like you guys to guide me.

I also want to access the DB2 database from a host machine with Rational Rose Application Developer(RAD).

Any help from anyone would be highly appreciated

thanks in advance

Hi,

you need to install the runtime client on the Websphere and RAD systems. Find more information about DB2 clients at http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infoce...t/c0007217.htm . After that, make sure that the user running the applications has the DB2 environment loaded (e.g. by executing ". /home/db2inst1/.profile") and that the file db2java.zip is part of java's classpath.

More information and a link to the download page is to be found at http://www.thescripts.com/forum/thread183617.html .

Regards, Bernd
