We have an environment where we have two databases with identical
structures. In practice we like to keep the data on one of them small
for performance reasons. We have been identifying records over a
certain age, extracting the data, inserting it into the secondary
database and deleting it from the primary database. This has worked
for us in the past through a custom program that reads the system
catalogs, determines the FK relationships and builds queries to
traverse the relationship tree to extract all related records from
associated tables.
Our program is showing its age and not meeting the performance levels
we need. Before we commit resources to revamp it, I wanted to see if
anyone knew of any commercial utilities, or other solutions, that
would aid our situation. Any input would be appreciated. (8.2 FP14,
