About $150 per exam. So that would be $300 to become a certified DBA. The
exams are administered by 3rd party companies that specialize in that sort
of thing. At many IBM conferences dealing with DB2, they offer the exams for
free if you a paid attendee.

I am not sure that everyone knows that EMEA is the Europe-Middle East-Africa
marketing division of IBM. Since the OP email domain was comcast.net, it is
likely that he lives in the US.

DB2 9 DBA exam costs $ 150 in US (thats roughly Rs 6000 (Rs - Indian
Rupee). However if I take the same exam in India it would cost me just
Rs 1500 ( ~= $ 38 ). So I prefer to take this exam when I go to India
on vacation because of less $$.

Any reason for this cheap cost in India ?

IBM does not charge for the exam. The 3rd party administrator charges for
it. Obviously, their expenses are lower in India, as is the amount that
people in India are willing to pay.

I guess that's just the market: demand and offerings.
