Please help with installing db2 V9 on debian

Hello everyone,

I am having problem in installing DB2 V9 on debian. It can't create an instance because of a system error. It says "SQL1042C An unexpected system error occurred. SQLSTATE=58004
Update DBM cfg SYSADM_GROUP errcode = 4
DBI1281E The database manager configuration file could not be initialized."

Does any one know what errcode 4 is? How can I solve it?

I am trying to install it on a linux debian system. It is running NIS, however, all the users that I used for DB2 are local users. Any idea of what is going on?

Any help is very appreciated.

Following is copied from the log file:

Program name = db2idbm
Instance home dir = /db2home/db2inst5, Sysadm group = db2iadm5
Instance type = 1, Auth type = server

SQL1042C An unexpected system error occurred. SQLSTATE=58004
Update DBM cfg SYSADM_GROUP errcode = 4
DBI1281E The database manager configuration file could not be
initialized.

Explanation:

An error occurred when attempting to initialize the database
manager configuration file. A DB2 instance could not be created
or migrated.

User Response:

Refer to the log file for problem determination. Resolve the
problem and try the command again. If the problem persists,
please contact IBM Support.
