Migrating an old OS/2 server

I have one server running OS/2 with DB2 V7.2 (last available for this
platform). I have the Linux version of the installed V7.2 available. The
databases are relatively large so disk space is at a premium on the box and
I would really like to be able to share the instance when booting between
the two OS's until I get all the nits worked out of the Linux system. Is
it possible to use the same database files and if so, how do I define the
instance to a new Linus install?

I know, 7.2 is old but I really want to install Linux then migrate the
databases via consecutive installs until get to a current configuration
and - besides the space issues - this seems to be faster than the
backup-restore path.

No, you cannot use the same files for OS/2 as you do on Linux.

You cannot do a backup and restore either. You will need to pull the DDL
with db2look and then pull the data with db2move. I would use at least DB2
V8.2 (FP14) on the Linux side.

Thanks, Mark. I figured I would wind up doing that but it was worth a try.
That explains why the backup-restore route fouled up when I tried it as
well using a test database. Be glad when I get everything on a common
system!
