Hi.
Would appreciate any comments on how I can move my information
integrator mapping configuration to a new machine. Will a normal DB2
backup and redirected restore work?
Thanks a lot. 5 1903

What exactly do you mean with "mapping"? If you are talking about all the
statements like CREATE WRAPPER, CREATE SERVER, ..., then you can either
use "db2look" to extract just the DDL you want, or you can use
backup/restore.

Yes, we need to move our II installation from an AIX to a Linux
machine, can we use a normal backup and redirect restore?
Thanks a lot !

I believe the processor architecture needs to be the same for a backup/
restore to work. I know AIX->Windows doesn't work but I haven't tried
AIX->Linux.

No, it doesn't. The only restriction is that source and target system must
have the same endianess. That's why AIX -Windows doesn't work.

I'm talking about V9 here. V8 has a few more limitations which are all
listed in the manual for the RESTORE DB command.
