Timing out while fetching data from DB2

P: 2

We are facing following error message with a batch job which is used to fetch data from DB2.The query is executed from Perl script. This job has started failing very frequently now a days. This is the message,

"DBI_ERROR: [IBM][CLI Driver] SQL30081N A communication error has been detected. Communication protocol being used: "TCP/IP". Communication API being used: "SOCKETS". Location where the error was detected: "". Communication function detecting the error: "recv". Protocol specific error code(s): "10054", "*", "0". SQLSTATE=08001

Please advice on this.

We resolved the issue by assigning an index to column in one of the table in DB2 from which we fetch the datas using the query. The index to that column picked the response time to 7-10 mts from 30 mts.
