Uninstall DB2 client v7& v8

Hi all,

I want to uninstall DB2 client v7 & v8 on a Solaris box and I can't
find any documents in IBM website on it. Could anyone help me out
please?

Thanks a lot.

On your original CDs was a script named 'db2_deinstall' - that's the easy
way to do it. The complex method is to uninstall each package using pkgrm
that matches db2.*71 or db2.*81 as regular expressions (or db2*71 and
db2*81, respectively, as globs).

The manual method is only more complex in that you need to do things in
the "right order" to avoid pkgrm complaining about missing requirements.
If you can't find your CDs, just keep trying to remove package after
package, ignoring the failures - eventually you'll whittle the list down to
zero.

NOTE: You want to drop or migrate all your instances prior to
deinstallation. This is to ensure the system is as clean as possible. You
cannot migrate a v8 instance to v9 unless it is still a working v8 instance
as db2imigr will call things prior to migration to discover its current
settings as part of the migration, and that needs the v8 libraries to still
be working.

Thanks Darin for your help.

I actually want to install the DB2 v8 server on the machine which has
cleint v7&v8 installed already. Can I just use the same instance of
the client to install the server directly? instead of uninstalling the
client first...

Thanks so much.

There will be a /usr/IBM/Uninstall folder.
go to that folder and run uninstall script.

You can install the server over top of the client, yes. You'll have to
reapply your fixpak afterwards, and do not create any new instances as part
of the server install - they may not work until after the fixpak is
reapplied.
