Explicit parallel processing of tablespaces with DB2_PARALLEL_IO on DB2 8.2

P: n/a
I have a raid array that I have configured as Raid 1/0 and I have DB2
tablespaces across that array.
Instead of multiple containers for each tablespace I am utilzing
DB2_PARALLEL_IO=*:3.
All of my system and temp tablespaces are DMS and my temp tablespace
is SMS.
My platforms are Linux and Windows - I tested on two platforms with
the same results.
I've set the Linux parameter DB2LINUXAIO=TRUE on the Linux box.

My tests seem to indicate:
if I create multiple SMS containers for temporary tablespaces the I/O
thoughput goes up.

Does SMS or temp tablespaces not refer to the DB2_PARALLEL_IO
parameter for parallelism? Why do I need multiple containers for the
temp tablespace if I have set DB2_PARALLEL_IO ?

Thanks,
JD
