notification at failed log archiving

Hi,

first, this concerns db2 v8 and v9 on AIX and Linux/intel

Until now we used a "user exit" when we want to archive logfiles.
We changed the user exit executable a bit so we receive an email when the
archive fails for some reason.

In the last releases of DB2 they improved the functionallity of log
archiving.
So i want to use DB2 own archiving method instead of the "old fashioned"
user exit.

What can be done to get (email) notification if log archiving fails ??
My db2diag.log is filled up with error messages then (as it should be), but
the healtmon nowhere notifies me.
(healtmon is running OK, i get messages from other health indicators)

Is there a built-in method for notifying when archive logging fails ??

TIA

Nope. This is exactly why IBM still supports a user exit.

Of course the option would be to have a job that monitors the logs and
notifies when log archiving fails.

thanks Ian,

sure it is not that difficult building a job that monitors the logfiles.
but again this is something extra to take care of i.e. check that the
mentioned job is running properly.

so for the time being i'll do the job using a user-exit
