HELP! Create Database problem

P: n/a
Hi,

On a multi-partition instance, can you create a database on a single
parition? How???

The db architects want to use one instance for four databases where
only one is big enough for a multi-partition. The other three are
small. I'd like to create them only on one partition but can't find any
documention on how to do this.

Thanks,
Celestine Pressley

You need to use a single-partition nodegroup. It's in the doc.

You can't create a single-partition database in a multi-partition
instance.

You could, as Larry suggested, create a single-partition nodegroup
in these databases and drop the default USERSPACE1 tablespace and
recreate it in the single-partition nodegroup.
However, you're probably better off creating a second non-partitioned
instance for these other databases. It will make life easier.
