Navigator Slow on ALTER

When using the Navigator GUI to alter a table schema, performance is
slow or non-existant (that is, after 15 minutes of waiting, I exit the
screen and the change is not made).

If I use the Run Scripts window and perform the SQL ALTER TABLE, it runs
right away.
