I have recently had this (DB2 v8.2 with FP 4 or v8.1 with FP12).
The db2fmp processes seem to get "messed up" when they are abnormally
terminated.
Restarting the instance often does not help.
I had to reboot the machine to fix this.
Earlier, I also had a problem when I had audit turned on and I hit a
bug which crashed the fmp process. I opened a PMR and the problem
dragged for about 2-3 weeks, but with no resolution.
The problem was resolved by rebooting the server.
I am still interesed in (1) knowing what causes this and (2) how to
rectify it gracefully (without instance restart or server reboots, but
do not have the time/bandwidth and cannot consistently recreate it in a
test instance.
Hope you make a breakthrough......

I am on DB2 v8.1.2.96 and FP 10. Till sometime back I was able to debug
the procedures, now whenever I try to debug the procedure, it comes out
with the following error:

"Exception occurred while debugging:
A severe error occurred while initializing the debugger session. To use
the debugger you must restart your database instance. Return code =

I have restarted the instance but that did not help my cause.

Can someone please help me
Can you open a PMR with support?
Cheers
