Remote Detection of IBM DB2 Version?

I work for a company that produces a Network Scanning Product.
(www.saintcorporation.com) One of the things that we would like to add
is detection of the current version of the IBM DB2 Universal Database.

It appears from some sources I've read that simply connecting to Port
523 will give me information on the version, but I have been unable to
determine the exact matchup between the FixPaks and the information
returned by the connection to port 523.

Here is what I believe to be true.
SQL08010 in the output indicates the original version of v8.1 with no
FixPaks.
SQL08020 indicates that FixPak7 has been run which updates v8.1 to v8.2

Does SQL080205 indicate that FixPak12 for v8.1 (also called FixPak 5
for v8.2) (The newest as of June 28, 2006) has been added?

Additional Code
Also, some of the fixpaks had "a" versions, does that affect the SQL
code?
Is there any way to get the Level Identifier code and is it needed for
proper detection?

Thank You
