Just a question...
wouldnt this query give us a good estimate of the dbsize, provided the
stats are uptodate ?

sum(a.avgcollen*b.card)
from
syscat.columns a
inner join
syscat.tables b
on
(
a.tabschema=b.tabschema
and
a.tabname=b.tabname
and
b.type='T'
)
WHERE
b.tabschema in (select distinct name from sysibm.sysschemata where name
not like 'SYS%');
