Thanks Pierre for your reply.
I have created a tools catalog database for server1 and want to use the
same tools catalog database for the server2.
I have cataloged the database on the server2 and when I tried to create
a tools catalog with the existing database ie
db2 create tools catalog use existing database toolsdb force
it gives me an error
SQL30082N Attempt to establish connection failed with security reason
"3"
("PASSWORD MISSING"). SQLSTATE=08001
The database which is on the server1 is a remote database for the
server2 and I know I have to give the password but there is no option
of mentioning the password in the create tools catalog command.
Is there any way, please give me your advise.
Thanks.

The tools catalog is used by the task manager functions of the DAS. Store,
categorize, schedule, ...
Once a task is created (scripts, batch files, programs, ...) it can be
stored in the task center, in category (ies) that you create, given a
schedule at which to execute and execute other different tasks on successor
failure as well as notify a contact on execution.
The following link will help you: db2 create tools catalog command
http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infoce...e/r0008881.htm
identified by doing a Google searcj on db2 tools catalog (very difficult!).
The other link will explain how the DAS may use it. You'll find it at the
bottom of the one above.

11**********************@f6g2000cwb.googlegroups.c om... Hi everyone,
Can anyone answers my questions. My server is AIX and is 5.2 and the
db2 udb of V 8.1 Fixpak 9.
What exactly is the tools catalog for?
How it is uaseful in performing automatic runstats and reorgs?
Can the tools catalog be centralized for a given server (AIX/LINUX)?
How can I know if there is a tools catalog existing for a given
database or an instance?
Thanks!
