Data Type Comparison

One of my query is comparing 2 columns in a 'where' clause: COL1 CHAR(3)
and COL2 CHAR(8).

Is there any overhead involved in performance as compared to if both
datatypes are CHAR(8)?

Its contains around 7 million rows.

Cheers,
San.

Some CPU instructions on DB2 for LUW. The plan will not change (i.e.
index access). I doubt you can measure it in real life.

Cheers
