Not sure where to put this, so i'll try here. The online documentation
for .NET:
Root=>Reference=>APIs=>DB2 .NET Data Provider=>DB2Connection
Class=>Properties=>State Property
<URL:http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/db2luw/v8/index.jsp?topic=/com.ibm.db2.udb.dndp.doc/htm/frlrfIBMDataDB2DB2ParameterCollectionClassTopic.ht m>
[Hmm..., well, i might as well try it.]
<URL:http://tinyurl.com/ek9fc>
Subsection "Remarks":
Note Calling the State property on an open connection increases
application overhead because each such call results in an exlplicti
low-level call to determine if the connection is still valid.
The word "exlplicti" should probably not have an extra "i". And, the
word "Note" should have a colon after it.

Well, it's good that i read that. I was going to add such a check here
and there.
