DB2 Client run time for linux

Hallo everybody!
I'm no expert in IBM systems so I hope the probem I'm asking for help is
not OT.
This is the problem: I have an IBM x206 with a Redhat ES 4 update
2.software and IBM DB2 Runtime and Application Dev. Clients (Beta) for
Cloudscape 10.0 installed on it. It should gain access to a DB that is
installed on an as400 v5r2m0.
As explaind on the Readme I tried the client with derby of Apache and it
runs properly. But when I try to connect to as400, I get this error:

[db2inst1@gulp ~]$ db2 connect to localdb user using
SQL8002N Connect processing failed; a valid product license was not found.
SQLSTATE=42968
At this stage I'd like to ask you if it's possible to use this client
version to connect to a DB installed on as400 or if it's necessary to
get a commercial product.
I hope my explanation was clear enough.
Thanks a million for your help.
Bye,
Fabio

Connection to AS400 or Z/OS databases requires DB2 Connect. Even if you
get this working, you would not be licensed.
